Meet our students :

Based at Prek Thmey, a farming area 13kms from Phnom Penh, the school currently welcomes 200 girls aged from 6 to 10 years old.

Until now, most of the girls were working in the fields to help their very poor families (average salary per family 30 USD) and rarely, if ever, went to school.

Since 7th November 2006, they have been receiving high quality bilingual teaching (English/Khmer) and doing artistic activities (art, singing, dance) in our "Happy Chandara" school from 7h30am to 5.00pm.
To make it possible to guarantee the regular attendance indispensable for quality learning, we provide a sack of rice each month to every family to make up for the one less contributor to the families' income. The rice donation is conditional on the girls' attendance in class.

Meet our teaching team

To teach and guide the children, we have a team of high-level staff present throughout the day supervised by Hoa Nguon, vice president of the association and of Cambodian nationality and lead by Anne Nguyen, who herself founded a school for refugees in New York. Both are in regular contact with Tina Kieffer, the association's president, based in Paris.

Three French teachers, Mélanie Kermoal, Marie Boucher and Laurence Dangreaux teach the classes, together with Khmer support teaching staff Mom Sarom, Nbol Sidany and Doung Leakana. Our specialised head of new technology Georges Nguyen gives the girls and introduction to information technology.
